1 Stormy Daniels Finishes Her Testimony At Trump Trial

The testimony of the adult film star at the center of the “hush money” trial of former President Donald Trump is done. Stormy Daniels finished almost seven hours of sometimes lurid testimony yesterday, with Trump’s attorneys putting her through an intense cross-examination where she was accused of making up the alleged affair with Trump to make money. For his part, the former president has consistently said that any encounter with Daniels ever happened. Trump’s legal team moved for a mistrial again yesterday afternoon and also asked Judge Juan Merchan to lift the gag order imposed on their client. Merchan denied both motions. Former White House aide Madeleine Westerhout started her testimony yesterday afternoon and will continue today. Prosecutors said yesterday that Karen McDougal, who was paid by the National Enquirer to squash her claims of a year-long affair with Trump will not testify during the trial, meaning that the only key witness left to testify for the prosecution after Westerhout will be former Trump attorney Michael Cohen.

2 Florida Sheriff's Office Releases Bodycam Footage From Shooting Of US Airman

Details continue to come out involving the death of a US Air Force Airman while he was at home in his off-base apartment last Friday. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Officer in Florida released the bodycam footage from the incident where Senior Airman Roger Fortson was shot multiple times by a deputy when he answered his door while holding a weapon by his side. During a news conference after releasing the video yesterday, Sheriff Eric Aden said, “It pains me to show the video, but I know that you all need to see it.” The sheriff’s office said in a statement that the deputies were responding to a disturbance call, and Fortson’s family believe they went to the wrong apartment. Fortson was on a Facetime call with his girlfriend when officers knocked, and the call stayed live through the entire incident. Sheriff Aden took no questions at the news conference, but it’s been revealed that the deputy who shot Fortson has been placed on administrative leave. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the state attorney’s office are investigating the shooting.

3 Student Loan Rates Set To Reach 16-Year High

The latest increase in prices is coming to student loans. The interest rate on a federal undergraduate student loan is expected to climb to 6.5-percent in July, which will be the highest its been since 2008. The rate for student loans is figured by adding 2.05-percent to the yield on a 10-year Treasury bond, which sold at their annual auction Wednesday at a 4.48-percent yield. The increase in the cost of student loans is considered to be at least part of the reason why only 35-percent of students have completed the FAFSA this year, which is down 13-percent from last year.
