CIS-SA is dedicated to helping young people achieve in school and in life. Please join us!
Each August most children start school filled with excitement. On the first day of school, they look forward to organizing new supplies, making new friends and meeting their new teachers.
However, in San Antonio it is a sad fact that thousands of our children start their school year unprepared.
We are asking for your help so that more kids can have a happier start. Communities In Schools is again sponsoring Project Stuff the Bus school supply drive, now in its 16th year. Stuff the Bus not only benefits youth at over 60 campuses served by CIS-SA, but also children from the Battered Women’s Shelter, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio, the Children’s Shelter, ChildSafe, San Antonio Youth Centers, Seton Home, South Texas AIDS Family Network, Youth Alternatives and Archdiocese Catholic Schools.
Donation drop-off locations will be at select San Antonio-area H-E-B stores.

Helping Kids Stay In School, Successfully Learn and Prepare for Life
Communities
In Schools is the nation’s lead-ing dropout prevention organization,
and the only one proven to both decrease dropout rates and increase
graduation rates.
Communities In Schools of San Antonio (CIS-SA)
was established in 1985 and has become Bexar County’s largest
stay-in-school program. Our mission is to surround students with a
community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in
life.
CIS-SA implements school-based, integrated student
services, identifying and bringing together in neighborhood schools the
resources and programs that kids need to be successful. From
individualized case management services to facilitated services or
programs for a targeted group of students or the entire campus, CIS-SA
helps ease the burden on schools, strengthen relationships between home
and school, and increase opportunities for positive life choices and
academic achievement.
The CIS model has succeeded in
transform-ing the lives of young people who, without these
interventions, would likely become dropout statistics with little hope
and a bleak future. Every year 1.2 million students drop out of
school. What that means is every 9 seconds, a student in America loses
his or her path to a better future. By empowering students to achieve
in school and life, we are building a stronger America and a stronger
San Antonio, where every person is capable of reaching his or her
highest potential.
