up 32 cents in the past month
Just like the thermometer, the price of gas in San Antonio continues to go higher, and the unusual late summer price rise is expected to continue, 1200 WOAI news reports.
The price of gas in San Antonio today averages just over $3.50 a gallon for the first time since May.
Doug Shupe of Triple-A Texas says prices in San Antonio are up six cents in the past week, and 32 cents in the past month.
"The gas prices have risen again, we're not sure how high they are going to go," Shupe said.
Usually by late August prices have peaked as the summer travel season winds down, but officials say disruptions at refineries in Illinois and California, as well as more belligerence on the part of Iran, and renewed optimism that the global economy may be improving, have all contributed to increased prices for crude oil.
"Analysts are telling us that these prices should remain right where they are, or maybe increase just a little bit going into the Labor Day holiday," Shupe said.
