continues a very bloody week on city highways
The deadly week on San Antonio roads continued overnight, when a man and a woman in the cab of an 18 wheeler were killed in an accident on Interstate 10 at Ralph Fair Road on the city's far northwest side, 1200 WOAI's Michael Main reports.
Police say the big rig was carrying a load of pipes, and when the truck hit the back of another 18 wheeler on the highway, the pipes came hurtling through the back of the cab when the truck came to a sudden stop, impaling the victims.
In another wreck this morning. A man was killed when he ran his car off Trumbo Road, which is south of Loop 1604 on the far south side, and slammed into a tree.
The wreck brings to ten the number of people who have died on San Antonio highways since Monday. The victims include five people who died in a single vehicle drunk driving wreck on Medina Base Road early Monday, a bicyclist who was killed when his bike was hit by a motorcyclist on the access road of I-35 near O'Connor on Monday, and a motorcyclist who died in a wreck on I-35 near Southwest Military on Friday.
