flashy event runs through Sunday
Geeks will boldly go where few geeks have gone before, as the annual Texas ComicCon opens today at the San ANtonio Event Center at Marbach and Loop 410, 1200 WOAI's Joshua Cook reprots.
"We have the Incredable Hulk, Lou Ferrigno, in town for the event," founder Chris Kidd said. "For the ladies we have Cary Elwes from Princess Bride, and for Horror fans he was in the SAW franchise movies."
He says there are also plenty of exhibitors.
"Everything to indulge your geek need, that's for sure," he said.
Billing itself as Texas 'top pop culture event,' the three day Comic Con will also feature Jake Busey from the iconic SciFi film 'Starship Troopers,' as well as Herbert Jefferson from 'Battlestar Galactica' and Mark Sheppard and Jim Beaver from 'Supernatural.'
There will also be writers on hand to meet with fans.
"Lary Hama, one of my favorite artists/writers of all time because he wrote the GI Joe comics," he said. "He's also responsible for writingmost of the back fo the toy boxes as well."
Look for plenty of flashy constumes, too. There will be costume competitions for all sorts of over the top categories.
"We're gong to have the 501st Storm Troopers in full regalia will be out there," he said. "You can take a picture of them on board the Death Star."
The event runs through Sunday.
