Death of cyclist highlights dangers in S.A.

The death of a bicyclist on the northeast side is a stark reminder that San Antonio is still not "bike friendly."
Cindy Snell, who manages Bike World in San Antonio says drivers are still not used to sharing the road with cyclists and bike enthusiasts should keep that in mind at all times.

"Be aware of your surroundings and wear a helmet and find safe routes to travel.
Even use the option of putting your bike on the bus to get to a safer a spot to ride the rest of your distance."

The cyclist who died this week veered into traffic on the northeast side.

"Wear your helmet and plan your path and be aware of your surroundings. And wear your helmet," emphasizes Snell.

She adds that access roads can be just as busy as the highway so ride only on marked bike lanes.

"A lot of the places where we have cycle lanes right now ... the traffic is much slower and it makes more sense that cars and bikes can blend,"
says Snell.
