three others hurt in one vehicle crash

A horrible accident on the city's southwest side this morning has left three people, including two children, dead, 1200 WOAI's Michael Main reports.

It happened shortly after midnight in the 6200 block of Medina Base Road.

Police say a car carrying six people slammed into a parked highway construction vehicle at a high rate of speed.

A two year old girl, a seven year old boy, and a woman in her twenties were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other people in the vehicle were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver was the least seriously injured of the six, but he is also hospitalized.

Police say the area was marked as a construction zone.

Officers are trying to determine whether the young children were properly secured in seat belts of car seats.

They are also investigating whether the driver may have been drunk.
