Rackspace coming to the aid of the SA Symphony
The San Antonio Symphony is getting a powerful ally. Rackspace Hosting's CEO Graham Weston says the company is embracing musicians as fellow members of San Antonio's "creative class" and hopes to help them fulfill their potential.
"I told them that I was going to make an undetermined multi-year gift to help the symphony reach the next level," Weston has announced.\
Weston shied away from stating an amount but simply said the symphony would get the company's financial support for the next three years.
Denny Ward, President of the Symphony Board says any donation will
go a long way toward enrichingSan Antonio culture.
"We're doing a terrific job of bringing live performed classical music to San
Antonio and it requires a lot of support."
"About 1/3rd of our expenses are covered by tickets and the
rest comes from support from the community," says Ward.
He adds that the money will help greatly help in bringing the best in live, classical music to San Antonio.
"Performing arts in San Antonio are fabulous and the creativity that goes with the symphony and the creativity that goes with Rackspace has synergy and we're just thrilled."
