Trio raises funds while riding down I-35
Three brothers from Waxahachie just wanted to help.
"We were sitting around the campfire one night and talking about how we wanted to give back to the United States and we got to throwing ideas around about what we should do," says Paige Shook.
Shook says the part-time cowboys decided to name themselves the Texas Rough Riders and band together for the ride of their life, hoping to collect donations for wounded warriors.
"300 miles on a horse makes a pretty good cowboy."
They rode from Waxahachie to San Antonio leaving May 6th.
Shook says they traveled about three miles a day alongside I-35 camping out along the way.
"We stopped at the Sonics and Valeros and other stores and handed out cards
about what we were doing."
They collected donations from well wishers.
"It was a real good adventure, we bonded as we're kin and it was fun!" says Shook.
They'll present a check today totalling $1,700.00.
