May 21 (Tues) 6:30pm-8:30pm Backyard Gardening Series: "How to Build a Raised Bed and Utilizing Drip Irrigation” Come visit with Master Gardeners Dr. Tom Harris and Ron Csehil to become more comfortable and successful with raised bed gardens as well as to save water with drip irrigation. 2013 Alamo Area Horticulture Show and Contest
May 25, 2013 at Festival of Flowers
The Bexar County Master Gardeners invite all area gardeners to participate in the 2013 Alamo Area Horticulture Show and Contest that will take place during the Festival of Flowers on May 25, 2013 at the Alzafar Shrine, 901 N. Loop 1604, between Blanco Rd. and Stone Oak Pkwy. The horticulture show and contest is presented by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Bexar County Master Gardeners.
The show and contest is open to all amateur home gardeners from Bexar and the surrounding counties. Gardeners of all ages are encouraged to enter the show including gardeners 17 years old and younger that are judged separately from the adult exhibitors.
We are encouraging area youth to participate in the show. If you are affiliated with a scout or church youth group, mentor a school garden or other youth organization, please share this information with our area young folks including family members and neighbors.
Exhibitors may bring their entries to the Alzafar Shrine between 3 -7 pm Friday, May 24, or 8 – 10 am on Saturday, May 25. There is a fee of $5 for each person entering one or more exhibits in the show. Each exhibitor will receive one coupon good for admission to the Festival of Flowers on Saturday, May 25.

Super Duper Spring Plant Sale!!! May 3 (Thurs) 10am to 6pm and May 4 (Fri) 7am to 9pm at the Norris Convention Center , 4522 Fredericksburg Road, entrance at Wonderland of Americas . The plant sale everyone has been waiting for!!!! The plant sale will be introducing the new ‘Orange Frost’ citrus plant which is a ‘Cangshaw’ and ‘Satsuma’ cross. As well as past and present Texas Superstar selections for sale and a whole lot more! Plants are custom grown and selected from Peterson Brothers, Greenleaf, Color Spot and Monrovia nurseries for this special sale. This sale is not only for attendees of the 2012 State Master Gardener Convention, but also local Master Gardeners and ALL the public is invited. Come one and all Master Gardeners and start spreading the word!!!! Monies raised from the sale will go towards the local Youth Garden’s Program and the Educational Outreach efforts of the Bexar County Master Gardeners. See you then!!!
