About Glenn
Glenn Beck is the host and star of a daily talk radio program based out of Philadelphia, that has jumped to syndication on more than 100 stations across the US in two years.  His program ranges from political issues to sad stories about a little girl's death, which prompted listeners to donate thousands of dollars for the girl's family.  An article about him in the St. Petersburg Times said he "talks about the day's events with passion, humor and sarcasm. He's winning some listeners, angering others, and leaving some scratching their heads."  Beck describes himself as a Mormon whose politics lean toward libertarian but also promotes traditional family values.  "I truly believe if I play every single one of my cards face up on the table they can never be taken from me and played against me. I'm not hiding anything. I never feel I've exposed too much," Beck told the St. Petersburg Times. "I'm not smart enough to lie. I'd never be able to cover my tracks."  Beck has been interested in radio for more than 20 years, and made his first on-air appearance at a Seattle, Washington, radio station when he was 13.  After two years on the air, his show is now syndicated in across America.

Vote San Fran out

The latest craziness from the wacky left in San Francisco is that they are sending drug-dealing illegal aliens on a free trip home. Normally Glenn would be for that---however, the fine folks of San Fran are doing it so the dirt-bags can avoid prosecution. Glenn moves to vote San Francisco out of the union. Where did it all go wrong for San Francisco---when did they lose their minds?
Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

Coming for your guns

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the police department crossed a line that should have never been crossed. They decided to go around the city and confiscate any weapons---legal or illegal. This is the amazing video that shows some actual police footage of authorities literally taking away innocent, law abiding citizens weapons away by force.
Watch the video.

Gas for Plasma's

In Glenn's latest CNN column he seeks to increase your frustration level with the skyrocketing gas prices by letting you know just how many plasma's you are missing out on by shelling out extra cash for gas money.
Check it out.

Books for the Beach

With July 4th coming up, Glenn is going to attempt to relax by reading a few entertaining books. If you are planning on doing the same, here are some books Glenn guarantee's will be great fun for the holiday:

<i></i> Executive Privilege

The premise is pretty simple. We know the president of the United States can be a crook (Nixon), an adulterer (too many to list), an alleged war-monger, but how about a serial killer? Best-selling author Philip Margolin poses that question in his great summer read, Executive Privilege. Check out a free sneak peek for Glenn's newsletter subscribers only--
here.

<b></b> The Last Oracle

What do you get when you mix a top secret covert U.S. agency with autistic children, a dash of evil Russians -- think Stalin-size evil - - a little Mengele in there, and then a slice of ancient history? You get a new novel that Glenn has just started called The Last Oracle by veterinary surgeon-turned-writer James Rollins. Glenn guarantees you'll love this book and James has been kind enough to give Glenn's newsletter subscribers (you!) free chapters. Enjoy!

Cancel the 4th?

It's sad enough to see that people in Hollywood hate America and can only point out the negatives in America's past. Even sadder was the columnist op-ed that declared the fourth of July 'A not-so-glorious Fourth' and bashed America relentlessly---but the worst part is it ran in (of all places) the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Read the article.

God Bless America

Frustrated with the focus of national conversation (by politicians) being so far off from what regular people are talking about---Glenn remembers back to 9/11 when all of the 'antichrist' politicians from both sides of the aisle came together and united our country. It didn't last long, but it was 'amazing', watching them stand side by side singing God Bless America. Where has that feeling gone and how do we get it back?
Glenn explains. (Insiders listen here).

Women causing rape?

Glenn has instructed the dead man walking, best selling author Brad Thor, to call in from time to time just to let Glenn know he is alive. Brad called in today and reported a story coming out of Egypt where a picture is being used to promote the use of the hijab and niqab by Egyptian women.
Here is the picture---and Brad explaining to Glenn what it all means. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

Inaction in action

Glenn put together this look back at what our politicians have said since Jimmy Carter proclaimed, in 1977, that we would never increase our dependence on foreign oil. We've all seen how that worked out. If you are hoping for politicians to act differently this time around---don't hold your breath. The consistency of rhetoric is simply astounding in this incredible (and incredibly depressing) montage.
Watch the video.

Taking guns

For those of you looking for the video from the NRA that has interviews with people from New Orleans who had their weapons confiscated by police in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, stay tuned to tomorrow's email newsletter, which will have the full video.

Worst voicemail ever

Yes, ranking right up there with Alec Baldwin's rant calling his 12 year old daughter a 'thoughtless little pig' or Charlie Sheen's message calling Denise Richards the 'n' word voicemails, is
this fantastic phone message from 'Dmitri' who met a woman in San Francisco and was able to get her number. Dmitri, surprisingly, is single---despite the fact that he is 'working on a movie script' and has 'nothing wrong with him'. Psychotic, hilarious, and scary all at the same time---this voicemail proves once and for all that you never give a stranger on the street your number who would talk longer but 'had to get heck out of the area'. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

America's soundtrack

Glenn just couldn't talk about Obama's socialist policies today---he just couldn't do it. He's trying to enjoy the already agonizingly high taxes before President Obama implements the highest tax raise in world history. Glenn claims the decline of America can be traced back to our musical tendencies.

'This is where -- this is where, when we were in our cars and we turned on the radio, we should have known Jesus is coming soon, within -- when did this come out?'--Glenn commenting on 'The Macarena'.

Stu and Glenn debate where the decline began---Stu's first example does not help strengthen his case.
Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

Reid: 'Oil makes us sick'

Harry Reid, the clairvoyant nimrod Senator from Nevada who declared the Iraq war 'lost' before the surge even started, is saying amazingly stupid things again. This time, he proclaims that 'coal makes us sick. Oil makes us sick'. Apparently demonizing oil is part of Reid's plan to lower gas prices, as he promised Democrats would do when they were elected in 2006. That worked out well.
Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

Glenn's ouchie

Glenn was showing off his disgusting bruise for the Insiders on the webcam today, and for some morbid reason the clip of this video is making an appearance in this newsletter. Why anyone would want to see an elephant with a boo-boo? It's kind of like looking at a really bad car accident or a beheading video---you don't really want to look, but do so anyway...so here it is (you sick, twisted, weirdo). (Insiders watch the video here).

Glenn's Message To You

Glenn apologizes if his message to you is incoherent, since he wrote it on the plane at 2 in the morning. Read it here.

Free Speech Wins

Friend of the program -- writer Mark Steyn, who had been attacked by the national Canadian "Human Rights" Commission for the horrific crime of saying things he believed, has been cleared. "It was the second of three motions before three separate bodies to be dismissed; Steyn still awaits the decision of the British Columbia provincial commission." Oh, if Mark were only a fan of higher taxes and Barack Obama, how much easier his life would be. Read the article.

What the mainstream media won't report

Casualties in May and June represent the lowest 2 month period in entire Iraq war. From Newsbusters:

So how will the media handle the unprecedented improvement?

Some possibilities:

  • Point out that June's total of US troop deaths is 50% higher than May's.
  • Adopt the approach of the Associated Press, which has telegraphed that it will lighten up on reporting from Iraq because people are "war-weary."
  • Note that the improvements should create expectations for bringing troops home sooner rather than later.

On the program today, Glenn reminds all of us to remember to pray for our troops, and think about everything they do for us. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

    Blame the speculators

While everyone blames speculators for oil prices, they might want to read up on the market for onions. From CNNMoney.com:

Back in 1958, onion growers convinced themselves that futures traders (and not the new farms sprouting up in Wisconsin) were responsible for falling onion prices, so they lobbied an up-and-coming Michigan Congressman named Gerald Ford to push through a law banning all futures trading in onions. The law still stands.

Problem? With no futures markets, onion prices swing far more wildly than oil markets.

Oh yeah, and iron ore too: Read more here.

    Dead Man Talking

Brad Thor, author of The Last Patriot, was on the show months ago and Glenn told him that he should consider not publishing the book. With extremists rioting over cartoons they don't like--Glenn believes Brad is legitimately in danger because of this book. What's his book about? How is he dealing with death threats? Read the transcript here including the Glenn Beck quote "You'll think 'Brad Thor is a dead man.'" (Insiders listen here). Buy the book here: The Last Patriot

    More border violence

Darrell Ankarlo (KTAR) joined the program to talk about the craziness that's happening in our border states---this time in the city of Phoenix. A drug house in Phoenix was attacked and shot up 'with enough ammo to take over a city' and some of the arrested were suspected as being part of a Mexican military and were wearing full tactical gear. Darrell has all the details here and he also has a great book out on his experiences going back and forth over the border called Another Man's Sombrero: A Conservative Broadcaster's Undercover Journey Across the Mexican Border. For more from his conversation with Glenn, read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

    Your kid's secret code

John McCain gets made fun of for being computer illiterate, but how much do you really know? For example, if your kid was typing in a chat window and they wrote 'PIR' or 'PAL' what would you guess it is? How about 'TD2M'? Find out here. (Insiders listen here).

    No more ice?

There was a very scary looking headline today in the news that said there was 'no ice' on the North Pole. Even though the science is settled, there are some questions raised about the claims--namely--there is still ice at the North Pole. But who's counting? Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

    Wall-E

Another animated movie, another message movie. Wall-E (who looks strikingly similar to Johnny-5 from 'Short Circuit') is a robot who is trying to fix our planet--after we destroyed it and had to leave. Gee, what could we possibly have destroyed the planet with---SUV's? Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

    2nd Amendment celebrates ruling

Today was D-day for the 2nd Amendment in the DC gun ban case, as the court (amazingly enough) was basically deciding if individuals should be allowed to own guns. It was a great result---however, the victory was narrow (5-4). What does that mean for the future of your right to own a gun? Glenn talked to the players in the case to find the answers.

    Check out Glenn's conversations with:

    America's new governor?

As a conservative, what's not to love about Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal? In response to the Supreme Court's ruling that said 'don't kill child rapists', he decided to do the next best thing (to child rapists): castrate. Glenn and Jindal talked about that ruling and the DC gun ban ruling was released while the two were on the phone. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

    Stu unleashed

Stu, who supports the 'incinerator' policy for child molesters, is obviously not very happy about the supreme court ruling that child rapists should be kept alive. So what does the man who wants to throw kid porn pervs into a warm-up for hell have to say about the ruling? Find out in Stu's latest blog.

    Canadian Health Care failing

With America leaning more and more towards socialism by supporting such government programs as universal health care, the media should pay just a little more attention to other countries who already have it, like Canada. It's not working. In fact, it's falling apart. But we are still going to have it soon---pretty neat, eh? Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

    Crazytown Express

With everything going on in the world today, it's obvious that the focus of the Democratic National Convention should be making the convention as green as possible, including making sure the balloons are bio-degradable. They even had an 'official carbon advisor' there to help with the process and to advise when it was necessary to pay carbon credits. Glenn's simple commentary on this: 'we are doomed'. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

    What's right with America

The AP, in typical media fashion, wrote a very disturbing piece about how horrible America is, blah blah blah the usual script. Glenn decides to run down what's right with America---and the list is longer than liberals may think. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

    No death for child rape

The Supreme Court decided Glenn couldn't have his little 'America is good' happy fun time without raining on the parade. Today they ruled that convicted child rapists cannot be put to death. (Read the full story). There's a position you want to stand behind -- being 'pro-convicted child rapist'. Since death is not an option, Glenn has a very creative and appropriate penalty that all convicted child rapists should pay. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

    Obama 'distorting' Bible

Dr. James Dobson took exception to comments made by Barack Obama in a recent speech, saying that Obama has 'distorted' the Bible and that he is "dragging biblical understanding through the gutter." Dobson's main issue with Obama seems to be that he is saying, for example, 'that I can't seek to pass legislation that bans partial birth abortion because there are people who don't see that as a moral issue'. Dobson's response: "Now that is a fruitcake interpretation of the Constitution. We don't have to go to the lowest common denominator of morality which is what he is suggesting. Am I required in a democracy to conform my efforts in the political arena to his bloody notion of what is right with regard to the lives of tiny babies?" Read the full story here.

    Through media eyes

In Stu's latest blog, he spares you from having to browse through the snooze-fest that is The Economist magazine, to get yet another example of what conservatives face in the media. The cover story is 'Iraq starting to fix itself'. That's odd, because according to some published reports, a giant coalition of forces threw Saddam Hussein out of power, while continuing to fight terrorists there for five years. Could it be maybe, just maybe, that it is those coalition forces who are leading the 'fixing' of Iraq? Read the Stu blog for more.

    'Journalist'

ABC News 'journalist' Jake Tapper had this unbiased commentary to report in a blog he wrote about Karl Rove (the story was Rove calling Obama 'the guy at the country club holding a martini while making snide comments about everyone who walks by'):

"Interesting that Mr. Rove would use a country club metaphor to describe the first major party African-American presidential candidate, whom I'm sure wouldn't be admitted into many country clubs that members of the Capitol Hill Club frequent."

    (Editor's Note: Is this 2008? Or 1958?) Jake continues . . .

"But the picture Rove paints is interesting. Who, pray tell, is Rove at this country club? The guy telling funny stories near the band? The charming president of the club's philanthropic arm? The brainy guy with all the sports scores? Or the guy who vandalizes your car and blames it on the kitchen staff?"

Thanks for maintaining your neutrality, Jake. Read the full blog entry here.

    More trouble for the I-man

Don Imus is getting some heat once again for racial remarks made on his radio program. He's on the defensive after talking about Pac-Man Jones (an NFL football player) who has been arrested several times since turning professional and asking 'what color is he'. When the co-host responded with 'African-American' Imus said 'there you go...now we know'. Imus says that he was making a sarcastic point that Jones was picked on because he was black. On Today's Program - June 23, 2008

    Obama plays race card

He's been doing it and he continues to show signs of painting Republicans as racist -- with no actual proof or past basis to go on -- Barack Obama said that 'the GOP is going to try and make you scared of me by saying I'm young...I have a funny name...and oh, did you notice he's black?'. Just another example of how Barack Obama continues to heal the wound that partisan politics has left on America with his uniting, comforting talk. Listen to the audio here.

    McCain Lottery

John McCain has been talking about energy policy, and he's got some radical new ideas like this one: $300 million dollars to whoever can come up with a battery that will change the way we use our cars. That's an interesting policy considering if someone did invent a battery that was suddenly used as the main power source for the country's transportation, it would probably net that person a lot more than $300 million. But thanks for being so generous with the taxpayers money, that's very kind of the Senator from Arizona. Read the full story.

    Brits not convinced

Apparently the fine folks of Great Britain are not so certain that man is to blame for the so called global warming that's allegedly been happening recently. Perhaps it's the realization, with all of the newly proposed carbon taxes on Britons, that perhaps we should think this global warming thing through before we start charging tax after tax to fight the invisible gas that no one can really accurately measure. The poll has rattled politicians who thought they had everything taken care of when the U.N. IPCC report said that man was responsible for global warming. Could it be back to the drawing board? Obama Flip Flop?

Last week the cable news networks were airing banners that said "Obama Flip Flop?" about his reversal on accepting public financing--(with a question mark after it because I guess they weren't sure). Thanks to Pat Gray for filling in last minute yesterday---he was in because Glenn was going down into the basement and took a nasty spill down the stairs. Fortunately Glenn avoided major injury and is doing fine. He talks a little bit about the incident and sadly, someone thought it was a good idea to take pictures of Glenn while he was at the hospital.

    Congress at 'work'

Oil prices are sky rocketing. Heated debates over drilling here at home are raging. The American people are ready to grab pitchforks and torches and head to Washington DC. So what are the geniuses in DC doing today to ease oil prices? Listening to the testimony of Scott McClellan. Gas prices are dropping everywhere now that Scott McClellan is talking about his Bush bashing book on Capital Hill!

Drill for the love of Pete!

Glenn interviews the Secretary of the Interior, Dirk Kempthorne, about drilling here at home. The Secretary is presenting the message the President delivered this week about the need to start drilling here and now, and that's great---however Glenn is perplexed at why the President only says he's ready to 'unlock' his key to start the drilling rather than just unlock it and put all the pressure squarely on the Democrats shoulders.

Pat Gray from Glenn's Houston affiliate KSEV for filling in for him today on radio.

    Dems to 'nationalize' big oil?

The industry of big oil has become so bad, so evil, that Democrats think it's high time the government steps in and basically runs Universal Oil Care. They want to nationalize big oil. The only thing funnier than the ridiculousness of this idea would be actually watching the government find a way to lose money running the oil industry. First Maxine Waters told oil executives that 'this liberal' would socialize oil companies, then House Democrats proposed nationalizing oil refineries. They aren't even hiding it anymore!

    Michelle hits The View

In an attempt to recreate her image from an American hating leftist nut-job to America's leading lady,
Michelle cozied up to the girls on The View. She said the comment that she has never been proud of this country was taken out of context. One question, if Michelle loves the country so much, why does she also say it's time to 'change traditions and change the history' of this country? Doesn't really matter how insane she sounds, because the media is eating up every word the Obamas say.

    Here comes global warming!

We are always quick to bash Hollywood whenever they further the global warming agenda, so we thought it appropriate to give credit when they bash it too.
This episode of South Park has a very funny scene where a hysterical crowd is running because global warming is 'right behind them'. Classic.

    Congress takes notice

Apparently the thousands of calls you placed to the Congress were heard because not only did the Democrats press the panic button and delay the scheduled vote on drilling the outer continental shelf---President Bush today spoke out about the need to start drilling and producing oil in many different ways. Drilling offshore, using oil shale, and drilling in Anwr.

    March to Socialism

There is certainly no a shortage of examples that this country is rapidly heading down a path to socialism, and this story only furthers that sentiment. A new poll has come out, and the question was 'do you oppose the nationalization of oil companies?'. If anyone can find a way to lose money in the oil business, it's the government. But, how many people in the survey were against that idea? The answer may shock you.

    Keep the light on, Al

Al Gore's Tennessee mansion was the cause of some controversy a couple of years ago when it was discovered that the house was wildly inefficient. Gore's excuses at the time were that 'well, the house is four times bigger than the typical house'. Did someone force Al to buy the house at gunpoint? Is he aware there are smaller houses in America? Gore also claimed that the house was very old and that he had to convert it to be green. Al, you didn't have to buy that one. Well, most of the green renovations are finally done---and the Gore's were able to save---zero dollars on energy usage. Instead, they actually increased their usage by 10%. But he's probably got lots of 'carbon offset' bumper stickers on his car!

    Bugs for oil

Kudos to the fine citizens of San Francisco, who are trying desperately to come up with a solution to the soaring cost of energy. The only problem is that the solution they arrived at was to use bug poop in order to create oil.
Read the full story. And the factory they would need to build in order to fully implement the technology of bug poop for oil would have to be the size of the entire city of Chicago. Obama slams Asians

Barack Obama appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel show and everyone was talking about how he said he'd put a basketball court in the White House while replacing the bowling alley. Glenn asks, can the guy at least win the election first before he starts re-decorating the place? Also, the part that the media missed, not surprisingly, was when he slammed Asians for being small. Of course, this is not an offensive comment---but if a conservative said something like this, even in jest, they would surely be crucified for it and deemed a hatemonger for the rest of their days. Other fun hypocrisy in this segment: Al Gore endorsing Obama despite Obama's admittance that several of his friends 'fly in' to play basketball with him. That doesn't sound very environmentally friendly.

    Drill now!

Congressman John Peterson from Pennsylvania joined Glenn to rally people around his effort to start drilling the outer continental shelf. Shockingly, he's running into resistance from the left and from environmental groups. He is urging the United States to start getting into many other areas of energy, too---oil shale, coal to liquids, coal to gas, more nuclear---so that we can start easing the pressure on our mid-east oil suppliers and show them that we can produce more energy on our own. He is re-introducing the bill again as it goes for another round of votes.

    High gas prices...good?

It's coming. The left went from promising to ease the pain at the pump---to touting the positives of high gas prices. It's unbelievable but true. What possible good could come out of raising the price of gasoline? Apparently there are many reasons, which Glenn predicts will be the new rallying cry from the left---excuses for the high gas prices. From Barack Obama saying high gas prices are fine (but he doesn't want them to spike, just a slow climb) to the New York Times saying that the government should force the price of gas higher (and not let it go below $4 per gallon) because it's 'having the right effect'. Tim Russert

By now you've heard that legendary journalist Tim Russert passed away on Friday at the way too young age of 58.
