The Astros will be without a member of their starting rotation to begin the season. Houston right-hander Jose Urquidy will start the season on the injured list due to a right forearm strain. Urquidy removed himself from last Friday's spring training outing after 43 pitches after feeling discomfort in his pitching elbow. The 28-year-old went 3-and-3 with a 5.29 ERA in 16 games with the Astros last season. He will join fellow starters Justin Verlander, Lance McCullers Jr. and Luis Garcia on the IL to open the new season.
