Census Bureau data say six of the 10 fastest-growing counties in the nation from 2022 to 2023 are in Texas. Kaufman County near Dallas topped the list with nearly 8% growth. Also in the top ten are Rockwall and Ellis Counties in North Texas, Liberty and Chambers Counties near Houston, and Comal County near San Antonio. All ten of the nation's fastest-growing counties are in the South. Texas is also home to eight of the ten counties nationwide that added the most residents. Harris County, home of Houston, leads the pack.
