A swarm of Houston-area bats are recovering after being stunned by the severe cold weather. Employees with the Houston Humane Society's Wildlife Center rescued more than 1,300 bats from under the Waugh Street Bridge on Allen Parkway, and another bridge in Pearland. The winged mammals were lying on the ground and looked dead, but they perked up when exposed to warmth. The bats are being incubated and rehydrated at the Wildlife Center, which has the Houston area's only bat rehab team.
