The Texas Department of Transportation plans to spend more than $640 million of federal funding on projects that the agency says will reduce carbon emissions. TxDOT says money from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will be spent on highways, which will ease traffic congestion, thereby cutting emissions from idling cars. The agency is expected to receive $641 million over the next five years for transportation projects that reduce emissions, which is more funding than any other state.
