San Antonio's much-hyped city workforce training program is still underperforming in its second year. The city opened enrollment in the Ready to Work program in May 2022. The program aims to help participants from low-income families get the training they need to land good jobs in on-demand fields. Of the nearly 5,000 people who have enrolled in Ready to Work, only 724 have finished their training so far. The city aims to place 80% of graduates in "quality jobs" within six-months of graduation, but is reporting a current rate of only 62%.
