Wind energy is in no hurry to come to offshore Texas. The Department of the Interior held its first-ever offshore wind energy auction in the Gulf of Mexico region on Tuesday. Not a single firm bid on two leases off Galveston. Offshore wind advocates are blaming the current political climate in Texas. The state is the top producer of wind energy in the nation, but appears to be souring on it. In this year's legislative session, Texas lawmakers passed a law that incentivizes the construction of natural gas-fueled power plants.
