Two major bills that aim to result in more power in the state's electric grid have the go-ahead from the Texas Senate. On Wednesday, senators passed Senate Bills 6 and 7, which would direct state money to natural gas energy production in the state in case of emergencies. The bills are intended to prevent dangerous power outages like the deadly blackouts that resulted from the severe winter storm in February 2021.
