Lawmakers Introduce Bill To Ban TikTok In The U.S.

A bipartisan bill would ban the popular social media site TikTok from operating in the U.S. The legislation introduced by Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio would prohibit social media companies under the influence of China, Russia or other foreign countries of concern. TikTok is owned by Chinese parent company ByteDance and federal officials have warned the app could be used to spy on Americans. Several states recently banned the use of TikTok on government devices and computer networks over national security concerns. FBI Director Christopher Wray recently said the agency was concerned China had the ability to manipulate content on the app and collect data on its users.
