Proposed Redistricting Map For Texas House Advances To Full Chamber

The proposed redistricting map for the Texas House is being advanced to the full chamber. The House Redistricting Committee voted to approve the map yesterday after a 16-hour hearing with plenty of public testimony. Members of the committee made several changes to the map during the hearing, including a redrawn district in Collin County that could now flip to the Democrats. However, Texas Dems remain unhappy with the map, saying it reduces the number of districts were people of color make up a majority of eligible voters. The House is expected to begin debate on the map in the next few days.
