Average Texas Independence Day Weekend Gas Price Highest Since 2014

The average gas price in Texas is on the rise again. Triple-A Texas says drivers are paying $2.80 for a gallon of regular unleaded, up five cents from this time last week. It's also the highest average gas price for Independence Day Weekend since 2014. Gas prices in the Rio Grande Valley are very close to the statewide average after rising more than seven cents in Brownsville and nearly 14 cents in McAllen since last week. Triple-A Texas says higher demand and global market optimism on oil are reasons for the jump.
