Judge Wolff: Bexar County Bars To Remain Closed

Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff has decided not to allow bars to reopen, despite the governor giving approval.

Governor Greg Abbott had announced that bars could open to 50% capacity as of October 14, if judges allowed. Bars have been closed since June in an effort to curtail the spread of coronavirus.

"We will not be opting in on opening bars back up in Bexar County," said Wolff.

Wolff said he's asked Metro Health to put together a report on the impact of bars opening, along with how many bars might be effected. He has asked for the information to be provided by October 14. He'll then determine whether to allow bars to open in the county and under what restrictions.
