Two Texas Congress Members Denounce ICE Conditions Amid Pandemic

Two U.S. representatives from Texas are calling on immigration officials to do a better job dealing with detainees during the pandemic. Sylvia Garcia of Houston and Joaquin Castro of San Antonio, both Democrats, spoke to reporters on Monday. They said Immigration and Customs Enforcement should increase coronavirus testing at its detention facilities and release detainees at risk of catching the virus. Garcia and Castro visited ICE centers in Dilley and Pearsall, and told reporters the conditions there were prison-like.
