Hotel Emma Wins Top Rank AAA Five Diamond Status

Another major honor for San Antonio's Hotel Emma at the Pearl, News Radio 1200 WAOI reports.

The Hotel Emma is one of only two Texas properties to be honored by being added this year to the list Five Diamond Award winners from AAA, the gold standard of hotel rankings.

"It's all about having incredible features, and that is not only physically," AAA's Josh Zuber said. "It is also all about exceptional service."

Just 121 hotels and 67 restaurants worldwide receive Five Diamond recognition. The Emma is one of two Texas hotels added to the list this year. The other is the Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston.

"Only four tenths of a percent of more than the 27,000 hotels and resorts approved by AAA make it up this high," Zuber said.

The Emma, named in honor of Emma Koehler, the brewmaster for the Pearl Brewery whose innovations kept the company operating during and after Prohibition, was built in 1894. Designed by world renowned architcht August Maritzen in the style known as Second Empire. It was the main brewhouse for the brewry until it closed in 2001.

Rescued by Silver Ventures' amazing redevelopment of the Pearl complex, the five Diamond winner sits at the heart of the bustling neighborhood of restaurants, art facilities, and other attractions.
