2018 Rodeo Breaks Arena Attendance Records

Last month's San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo was a record breaker, with 18 of the 21 rodeo performances a sell-out, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The grounds attendance was down slightly from the past two years, due largely to the chilly, rainy weather, but still reached 1.9 million.

"Our fans showed patriotism, they sang, they danced and had a wonderful time," Stock Show and Rodeo CEO Keith Martin said.  "We love that San Antonio loves the Rodeo, and we are so grateful for their support of our mission to educate the youth of Texas."

The PRCA rodeo athletes vied for over $1.7 million in prizes, the largest payout in a regular season rodeo.

"We are grateful to our corporate sponsors as well as the San Antonio and the surrounding communities who support our cause in various ways," Martin said.  "This support allows us to give back in a meaningful way to help provide educational assistance for the youth of Texas."

A Trinity University study shows the Stock Show and Rodeo has an annual economic impact of over $250 million for the metro San Antonio area.
