ICE Director at San Antonio Conference: Entering the US Illegally is Not OK

Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Thomas Homan told a border security conference in San Antonio that he will 'never back off' from claiming that it is 'not okay to enter the U.S. illegally, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

In audio from his speech provided to 1200 WOAI news, Homan spells out clearly what the priorities of ICE will be.

"If you violate the laws of this country, if you violate the laws of this country, which is a crime, it is not okay," Homan said.  "Just like if you are driving down the highway speeding, you are going to get a speeding ticket."

Homan also said he will not apologize for comments he made at a Washington DC forum when he said people in the U.S. illegally 'should be looking over their shoulders.'

Homan blasted the concept of 'Sanctuary Cities.'

"Bad for the community, because they are releasing criminal aliens back into the community, and they are not protecting immigrant communities like they say they are.  So immigrant communities are put at greater risk."

And he said the real beneficiaries of Sanctuary Cities are the immigrant smuggling rings, which are part of the murderous Mexican drug cartels.

"If they don't think that these smuggling organizations, these criminal organizations, aren't using Sanctuary Cities as a selling point, they're wrong," he said.  'Look, for $5,000 I'll get you to San Francisco, you can even commit a crime there and get arrested.  They are going to hide you from ICE.'  Sanctuary Cities are promoting additional illegal entry."

He blasted Mayors who feel that 'politics are more important than public safety,' saying Sanctuary Cities are a 'direct threat to the safety' of not only Border Patrol agents, but local police and the citizens of the Sanctuary City.

Homan said he is '100%' in favor of a border wall, and when it comes to DACA, 'if we ever get a clean DACA bill, shame on us.'
