Higher Prices Start Hitting San Antonio Gas Stations

Gas prices have started to jump higher in San Antonio, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

AAA Texas reported today that the average price for unleaded in San Antonio today is $2.23 a gallon, that is up five cents just in the past week, and 17 cents higher than January 25 of 2017.

The highest prices for crude oil in nearly three years is blamed for the higher prices. It is unusual for gas prices to be rising in late January.  At this time of the year we are usually heading for the year's lowest prices, where are generally experienced in late February, because demand is sharply lower in the wintertime.

San Antonio still has the lowest gas price in the state.  The statewide average is $2.33, and the national average is $2.56.

Prices are expected to continue to rise in 2018 as higher demand, and reduced output from oil producers like Venezuela continue pushing global oil prices higher.
