A woman's attempt to retrieve a stray cell phone led to an hour long rescue operation on the city's far northwest side overnight, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Officials say the woman was attempting to retrieve the phone when she somehow fell into a 15 foot deep concrete drainage channel behind the Crown Ridge Apartments on Babcock Rd. near the La Cantera Resort.
Extra crews and equipment had to be brought in due to the depth of the channel. The woman was finally rescued and taken to the hospital with broken bones.
It's not known if the cell phone was recovered.
