Two Guards Accused of Smuggling Dope to Federal Jail Inmates

Federal prosecutors say two guards at the federal prison for parole violators and people awaiting trial on federal charges in San Antonio were operating a lucrative business...smuggling in meth, heroin, and marijuana and selling it to inmates, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Prosecutors have indicted the two female guards are facing charges of attempting to provide contraband to inmates inside a federal detention facility.

Also indicted were three inmates who were allegedly in on the smuggling operation.The lockup, now called the Central Texas Detention Facility, is located in the old Bexar County Jail on Laredo Street on the west end of downtown.  

It is operated by a private contractor, and the guards who are facing charges are employed by the contractor.
