A man was run over and killed by a hit and run driver early today, and police are not convinced it was an accident, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police were called to the parking lot of a convenience store at New Laredo Highway and Southwest Military about 3:30 for what had been called in as a 'down and out.'
But when officers arrived, they discovered the man's shoe in the street and a massive gash on the back of his head and determined he had been hit by a vehicle that failed to stop.
The 43 year old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
In addition to traffic investigators, homicide detectives are also on the case, trying to determine who ran over the victim.
