SAWS Helps Restore Water Service to Port Aransas

The municipal water system in Port Aransas is back up and running again, thanks largely to the help from the San Antonio Water System, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

All utility services were lost in the beach communities surrounding Corpus Christi when Hurricane Harvey blew ashore last weekend.

More than twenty SAWS employees arrived in Port A Sunday night along with trucks full of sophisticated equipment designed to get water systems up and operating.  The SAWS crew encountered additional trouble in the fact that all electric power is out in Port Aransas.

“What our crews accomplished was nothing short of amazing,” said Robert R. Puente, SAWS CEO & President, adding that crews had to deal with dangerous debris, water hazards, and snakes. “Our crews allowed Port Aransas employees and residents the time to deal with their personal situations at home, while we worked quickly to make repairs. They appreciated that.”

The SAWS crews are returning to San Antonio tonight.
