Former Texas Comptroller Combs Nominated to Top Administration Post

Another former Texas elected officials has been tabbed for a key position in the Trump Administration, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Susan Combs, the former State Comptroller and Agriculture Commissioner, has been nominated to become Assistant Secretary of the Interior, a position that requires Senate confirmation.

In that position, Combs will be responsible for setting policy and handling the department's budget.

“Having served at multiple levels of state government, Texans have long benefited from the leadership and tireless work ethic of Susan Combs," Sen. John Cornyn said.  “As Agriculture Commissioner and then Comptroller of one of the nation’s largest economies, she has a clear record of promoting pro-growth policies and efficiently managing large organizations."

He also praised Combs' support for rural Texas, pointing out that many farming and ranching communities are directly affected to programs initiated by the Interior Department.
